Meg is a long time blood donor with Southeastern Community Blood Center. She’s given over five gallons of blood and platelets over the years, starting in her early twenties. “It’s so easy, it’s painless, and the staff is so pleasant,” says Meg.

Meg had been a blood donor for years when, two years ago, a staff member asked if she’d ever tried donating platelets. “They explained the process to me, and since my schedule is pretty flexible, I tried it. I work part-time for the United Way, and it’s easy to schedule an appointment.” Meg is also registered as an organ donor. “I’ve always thought that, even if I didn’t do anything else in my life, at least I could be an organ and blood donor.”

She is married, and the mother of two daughters, ages 12 and 15. She likes to spend time gardening, camping and reading, and is very active in her church.
