The Advertising Council teamed up with Florida State University in an effort to increase the awareness of blood donation to students. The Advertising Council, who has come up with clever ads such as “Smokey the Bear” and “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk”, took blood donation under their wing and chose 16 universities across the nation to help spread the word. A group extremely important in spreading that word was Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), a pre-med honor society organization. AED helped promote the Ad Campaign launch day blood drive by handing out red Bloodsaves wristbands to everyone they passed on their way to class. These wristbands represent blood donation and are to be worn proudly in support of this life-saving cause. AED members were also at the blood drive on March 2, making appearances on TV and recruiting donors. The day of the blood drive all donors received a Bloodsaves T-shirt, a red wristband, and a coupon to Bed, Bath & Beyond. This was a way to thank these kind people who took an hour out of their day to make a difference in the life of someone else. WCTV dropped in, along with Blazin’ 102.3 who broadcasted a live remote. Thank you, Florida State University and Alpha Epsilon Delta for participating in this event. Please visit www.bloodsaves.com to see the Ad Campaign’s commercials and other cool stuff!
